Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore

Interpretive Film, Multi-Seasonal Field Production

Orange Frame travelled to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore in Michigan to produce a film for the National Parks Service. We filmed the lakeshore over the course of four seasons to capture the full range of flora, fauna, and cultural history.

For the project we spent time on North Manitou island to film a critically endangered bird. The piping plover population of the Great Lakes region is on the brink of extinction with only about 70 breeding pairs left. Our highly trained team set out and acquire 8K footage of the rare bird species, strictly adhering to a code of nonintrusive filmmaking that does nothing to threaten the habitats of our subjects.
